What is an overage?

An overage happens when a container is filled beyond its intended capacity. If your container’s lid cannot close flat, that’s an overage.

Why does it matter?

Overages lead to additional processing and disposal costs. They also pose environmental concerns; material spills out of open containers, creating litter, polluting waterways, and attracting pests. That’s why it’s important to ensure all material fits inside your container with the lid closed.
