Recology transports 20 semi-truckloads of recyclables daily from the Recycle Central® recycling plant to paper mills, glass plants, and other manufacturers that purchase recycled materials.

Designed and constructed by Recology in partnership with The City of San Francisco, the Recycle Central facility opened in 2002 and is a critical component of achieving zero waste. 

• Approximately 500 tons of commingled materials are sorted for recycling at this facility every day.
• The Recycle Central workforce includes over 180 employee-owners, many from nearby neighborhood Bayview Hunters Point.
• The facility is open to the public 5 days a week and will accept clean source separated Cardboard free of charge.  Loads weighing more than 200lbs. will be paid per pound at the current market rate for cardboard.
