Whether your business is a restaurant, hotel, or office building, Recology works with you to develop tailored solutions for your recycling, compost, and landfill collection needs.

FOOD SCRAPS & YARD DEBRIS
All food scraps, food-soiled paper, approved compostable packaging and bags, yard waste, and untreated wood go in the compost bin. Food waste should be prepared loose in your cart or packaged in a certified compostable container inside your cart.

RECYCLE
Clean paper and cardboard, rigid plastic containers, glass, and metal belong in the recycling bin. Recycling should be prepared loose in your cart or packaged in a paper bag.

LANDFILL
What’s left? Not much! Non-recyclable plastics (plastic bags and soft plastic films), foam, pet litter, and ceramics, to name a few. We aim to send as little to the landfill as possible. Garbage should be bagged and placed inside your cart.

Bulky Items

Businesses can schedule a pickup for bulky items that do not fit in your Recology containers, for an additional fee. Schedule a pickup by contacting our customer service team by email customerservice@recologysf.com.

Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Disposal

Hazardous waste and e-waste should never be placed in your three Recology containers.

If your San Francisco-based business generates a small amount of hazardous waste (less than 220 pounds per month, or 27 gallons), you may dispose of it through the Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQG) Program. Visit our hazardous waste page to learn more.

Electronic waste can contain toxic heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, zinc, and nickel that can pollute groundwater and harm public health if not properly managed. Visit our e-waste page to learn more.

Locking Services

Businesses are responsible for keeping their refuse streams sorted, even as bins sit on the curb awaiting pickup. Add locking services for an additional fee help prevent contamination. To request a quote for locking services, email customerservice@recologysf.com.
