Your Carts

Recology Ashland provides compost, green debris, recycling, and garbage services to the Cities of Ashland, Talent, and Unincorporated Jackson County. Whether you’re a resident, business owner, or property manager, we work with you to tailor recycling programs based on your needs.

Green debris carts may be used for lawn clippings, plant trimmings, leaves, and other plant materials (if it grows, it goes). Eligible customers include those within the city limits of Ashland or Talent, as well as those within the urban growth boundaries of both cities. Green debris is an additional service charge.

This is a great way to help keep organics out of the trash and our landfills. Branches must be less than three (3) inches in diameter, and must fit inside the cart provided.

Compost services (food scraps and yard trimmings) are available to commercial customers only. This program is also a big money saver for our commercial customers, since garbage service is a higher rate than compost service! Diverting food from the waste stream significantly reduces the global warming impact from landfills, as decomposing food waste is a major source of the greenhouse gas methane. Learn more about composting.

Recology Ashland offers a great commingle household recycling service for our customers inside the urban growth boundary. NO plastic bags, glass, or motor oil. Learn more about commercial cardboard collection.

Glass and Motor Oil: Because of our semi-automated collection method, glass and used motor oil cannot be recycled in your commingled roll-cart. We will provide additional containers exclusively for glass and motor oil. Please do not place glass inside plastic bags.

Glass: All glass food, beverage jars and bottles. Remove metal lids and place in commingled trash bin.

Used Motor Oil: Put the used motor oil in a plastic container with a screw-top lid. Make sure it is well-sealed.

What is trash? Not much! Thin plastics (bags and saran wrap), cat litter, ceramics, broken glass to name a few. Only put un-recyclable materials into your garbage cart.

Cart Placement

      • Place carts curbside in the street for service by 7 AM on your service day, with the wheels against the curb and the arrows on the lid pointed toward the street.
      • If you live on a street without a curb, place the carts on the roadside, 3 feet apart, and facing toward the street.
      • Space your carts approximately 3 feet apart.
      • Make sure the lids of your carts are closed and your cart is not over full, to prevent material from falling out as it is serviced

On Call Program, Sticker Program & Pre-paid Yellow Bags

For customers who produce small amounts of trash.

On Call Program – Ashland
Contact the office at least 1 day prior to your service to schedule a pickup of your trash and/or recycling. This replaces the Sticker program. We will bill you for all pickups during the quarter.

Talent Sticker Customers
Starting in April stickers will no longer be sold, however, they never expire so nothing will change for you until you use your last sticker. After that happens you will be automatically switched to the On-Call Program.

Sticker Program – Jackson Co Only
Pre-pay for 5 stickers at our 170 Oak St. office, attach the sticker to your full can of trash, and set the can on the public road by 7 a.m. on your trash pick-up day.
Jackson County = 5 stickers = $43.09

Pre-paid Yellow Bags – Jackson Co Only
Use yellow bags instead of a can. Purchase the bags at our 170 Oak St. office. Place the yellow bag (30 lb. weight limit) on the public road by 7 a.m. on your trash pick-up day.
Jackson County = 5 yellow bags = $28.72
