Look for precautionary statements on product labels such as poison, danger, warning and caution to assist you in determining if an item is household hazardous waste. Sharps or needles that are improperly disposed of in the trash or recycling can pose a health hazard to our garbage collectors and our environment. Please properly dispose of sharps using a biohazard container.
Place home-generated sharps waste in biohazard containers. Biohazard containers are available for purchase at local pharmacies and some office supply stores. Contact your health care provider, local pharmacies, hospitals or clinics to ask if they offer a collection program. Sharps in approved biohazard containers can be brought to the Recology Vacaville Solano Recycling center on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
