While you are sorting your compost and recycling, we are finding new ways to reuse your materials. Whether you are a Pacifica business owner, property manager, or resident, we work with you to tailor recycling, composting, and landfill programs based on your needs.
Wondering what goes where? You can also print our sorting guides and posters.
Set-out Guidelines
- Residential carts need to be curbside by 5 AM on service days and should be replaced after collection within 24 hours. All carts need to be placed with wheels backed against the curb and lid pointed toward the street.
- Commercial customers should have containers set out the night before. Please make sure all lids are closed and allow at least 14 feet of clearance above each cart or bin. It is the customer’s responsibility to report incorrect container sizes and quantities by contacting Customer Service.
- Disabled residents (pursuant to Americans with Disabilities Act) who are unable to place their containers at the curb have the option of placing their containers beside their home, visible from curbside. Contact us to find out more about this program.
Missed/Extra Services
Please alert Customer Service within 24 hours if your service is missed. Missed service, does not include non-collection due to containers having contamination, hazardous materials, being overweight, or being inaccessible.
Extra charges may apply if containers are overflowing with material. All container lids need to be securely closed to mitigate litter and avoid overage charges.
Visit Recology of the Coast Recycling Yard for additional materials drop off.
Contamination
Contaminated containers may be charged a fee. Please follow appropriate sorting practices to prevent valuable resources from ending up in the landfill. If you are unclear on what materials should go where, please visit our What Goes Where page.

The size of your garbage cart determines your monthly collection rate – the less garbage you generate, the smaller your garbage cart and your bill. We offer 20, 32, 64, and 96-gallon carts. Please contact us for detailed rate information.
