Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to participate in recycling service?
All customers included in the initial rollout will receive a recycling cart and participate in a mandatory 60-day trial period.
After the trial, customers will have a limited opportunity to request cart removal and return to their previous garbage-only rate. Recology will provide additional information about the request deadline and process.
Customers may still request cart removal after the deadline, but their monthly rate will remain unchanged.
How will this affect my bill?
Customers currently receiving garbage-only service will see an additional monthly charge based on their service area:
-
- Suburban: $6.00 per month
- Rural: $7.41 per month
The new rates will take effect in the billing period following cart delivery.
Customers who already subscribe to recycling service will see a reduction in their rates under the new service structure.
You may be able to offset the increase by switching to a smaller garbage cart or less frequent garbage collection. Contact Recology to explore your options.
What Goes in Your New Recycling Cart?
Your new recycling cart makes it easier to recycle everyday materials, including paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, and metal cans.
Remember: Recyclables should be empty, clean, and dry before going into your cart.
