Help keep yourself and Recology Issaquah employee owners safe by following the guidance below.

KEEP SORTING CORRECTLY

What goes where? Sorting properly is critical to keep recyclable and compostable material out of the landfill. Organic materials should go in the compost, while cardboard, paper, glass, metal, and plastic containers should go in the recycling. View or print sorting guides to refresh your knowledge or post near your containers at home.

BREAK IT DOWN

Optimize space in your blue recycling cart and keep recyclables loose (not bagged). Break down cardboard boxes, crush cans, and do what you can to save space in your cart to make sure it’s not overflowing and that lids stay closed. Keeping our drivers safe means limiting their exposure to anything but the cart.

BAG ALL TRASH

Do your part to keep drivers safe and eliminate litter. Trash should be secured in bags to prevent materials from blowing onto the street. Make sure all trash fits inside your curbside cart with the lid tightly closed.

SAVE YOUR BULKY ITEMS

Put bulky items aside for now. To ensure driver safety we aren’t scheduling bulky item pick-ups at this time. Once Stay-At-Home restrictions are lifted you’ll be able to schedule pick-ups for these items once again.

WASH YOUR HANDS

Frequently! Washing your hands before and after rolling your carts to the curb will help keep both you and your driver safe. You can also wipe down the cart handles and lids with a sanitizing wipe to further protect yourself and drivers.

ROLL IT OUT

Place your curbside carts out early. Please roll your carts to the curb the night before your pick-up day. Drivers may collect materials earlier or later due to temporary routing changes. Remember to position bins 24″ apart to allow automated trucks to collect carts effectively.

SMILE & WAVE

Drivers need to socially distance, too. Please maintain the advised 6 feet of social distance between you and your driver or other Recology staff. But that doesn’t mean you can’t say hi — a friendly wave is always appreciated!
