Sisi Ivy is an image-based artist born in San Jose, CA. She utilizes photography, drawing, and found object sculpture to explore contemporary and historical narratives of place. Informed by her upbringing in Silicon Valley, her current work traces the landscape of the tech capital while examining its physical and imagined manifestations of progress.
Through embodying layers of materiality, Ivy’s multi-media photo installations challenge the function of image as documentation. By inciting tension between images and material, she evokes imaginative reasonings and suggests the insufficiency of photographs in depicting actuality.
Ivy’s work has been shown at Dead End Vintage, San Francisco State Fine Arts Gallery, San Francisco State Martin Wong Gallery, all in San Francisco, and she has been included in thepublication Lucky Star Magazine. Ivy is pursuing a BFA in Studio Art at San Francisco State University.
