*Once each calendar year, Burien residential customers may place up to one (1) cubic yard of Garbage at the curb for pick-up, provided that any individual item, bag, or box is no larger than three feet (3’) by three feet (3’). In addition, customers may request a free collection of up to three (3) bulky items such as appliances, couches, or large chairs to be collected at the curb. Recycling
Burien residential garbage service includes recycling collection at no additional charge. Your recycling cart will be emptied every other week on your garbage collection day.

Burien residential garbage service includes food and yard waste collection at no additional charge. Your food and yard waste cart will be emptied every week on your garbage collection day.

Burien apartment and condo customers’ garbage service includes recycling collection service at no additional charge. Customers will receive a contamination fee of $25 per cubic yard or per cart if they receive three or more occurrences of reported contamination greater than 5% in recycling containers. Notification of contaminated material will occur using cart/container tags and Recology Customer Service calls.

Food & Yard Waste
Apartment and condo customers that do not currently subscribe to food and yard waste may apply to receive one no cost compostable cart to be serviced weekly for up to one (1) year. In order to participate, Customers must have demonstrated proper Recyclable materials preparation and accept technical assistance from Recology King County’s Waste Zero Team for proper preparation of compostables. Carts may be removed if the Customer repeatedly contaminates the compostable cart.
