Can I use compostable bags and dispose of them in my compost bin?
Unfortunately, no. Compostable bags, along with other bioplastics, are not accepted in the green bin. Compostable bags do not break down within the designated timeframe at the composting facilities and may leave behind microplastics that contaminate the compost. Instead, place any compostable bags and liners into your garbage bin, and all compostable materials into your bin loosely. If you need to use a bag, go with a paper grocery bag, paper to-go container, newspaper, or pizza box instead!
