On Saturdays, April 27 and  May 11, from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Ashland residents may drop off their ‘green’ yard debris for free at the Valley View Transfer Station in Ashland (3000 N Valley View Road).

  •  Accepted materials: leaves, pine needles, small branches, brush, and other ‘green’ yard debris.
  •  Prohibited materials: trash, stumps, logs, firewood, and treated lumber.
  •  If materials were brought to the event in bags, those bags should go back home with the resident once they are emptied.

This will be the 12th Annual Wildfire Preparedness Day & Green Debris Drop-Off hosted by the Ashland Fire & Rescue, Recology Ashland, and the Fire Adapted Committee. Removing fuels like leaves, pine needles, small branches, and flammable plants away from your house and gutters can significantly reduce your wildfire risk and help prevent the spread of wildfire within the City of Ashland.

You can create a fire-adapted yard before the fire season starts, by removing the ‘fuel’ for a potential wildfire,” stated Fire Adapted Communities Coordinator, Brian Hendrix, of Ashland Fire & Rescue.

This program is for Ashland residents only, proof of residency will be required (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.). Volunteers will be available to assist residents with removing green debris from vehicles upon request. Recology Ashland will help keep all this yard debris out of the landfill by ensuring the material is composted.

Wondering what else you can do?

It’s not too late to follow the Wildfire Preparedness Campaign themes at Fire Adapted Ashland to take actions to prepare your home and property for wildfire, including:

  • Harden Your Home against embers and flames, and Be Firewise by adapting your property to wildfire

Residents may also request a wildfire risk assessment for their homes. Ashland Fire & Rescue and the Fire Adapted Ashland Committee have created an all-volunteer “Wildfire Risk Assessor” Program (WRAP) to help us continue to build and maintain a resilient, fire-adapted community. The Ashland Volunteer Wildfire Risk Assessor (WRA) performs wildfire home risk assessments within Ashland City limits to advise property owners and residents on the wildfire risks associated with their property and how to reduce those risks. *Request a risk assessment online. Please keep in mind that there is a waiting list for this service due to the high demand. Your patience is appreciated. Residents will be contacted within a few weeks to schedule the assessment.
