Hazardous waste, including electronic waste, accounts for significant amounts of toxic waste in landfills. Items such as electronics, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, paints, pesticides, cleaning products, old medications and other chemicals are illegal to put in the garbage or pour down a drain or gutter because they contaminate our soil, drinking water and air.
We do not currently accept hazardous waste of any kind. These items may not be placed in ANY Recology Ventura container or cart. If you have hazardous waste to dispose of, you may find a drop off information with the County of Ventura or City of Santa Paula.
Household Hazardous Waste items may include:
* Full or partially-full aerosol containers cannot be recycled because they are under pressure and may pose a hazard to solid waste workers and others. The best bet with aerosols is to completely use up the contents of the can, including the propellant. If this cannot be safely done, the product should be disposed at your local household hazardous waste (HHW) collection site.
