Our Buy Back Center has reopened by appointment only. See CRV Buyback Procedures for more information and instructions for making an appointment. 

Drop-Off Recycling Services are available for Mountain View Residents only. This does not include CRV Buyback.

When visiting the Recycling Center, please adhere to the social distancing guidelines in place for the safety of Recology employees and the public. Face coverings are required for all visitors and employees.

Mountain View Recycling Center CRV Buyback Procedure

    • Recology will accept a maximum of four (4)-32 gallon bags of CRV material per customer transaction. Material must be sorted prior to arrival.
    • Check in with the driveway attendant and give your name. The attendant will direct you to proceed to the area for redemption. If you arrive early, you will be asked to wait in your vehicle.
    • Once checked in, take your CRV material into the CRV sort area and empty the material into the CRV sorting barrels. When you finish unloading your material, the attendant will take the barrels and weigh the material.
    • Once the material is weighed the attendant will place a receipt along with the cash payout on a tray that will be placed on a table for you to take. The attendant will disinfect the tray, table, and baskets before using them again.
      • Only one customer will be allowed per time slot. Face coverings are required at all times.
      • Please arrive near the beginning of your appointment to allow proper time to inspect, weigh, and pay out your redemption.

Mountain View residents only:

  • Plastic bottles, tubs, jugs & jars
  • Aluminum cans
  • Plastic bottles & tubs #1-7
  • Paper & cardboard

The following hard-to-recycle materials are not accepted in residential recycling carts, but are accepted for drop off from Mountain View residents only:

  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Scrap metal (pots/pans, trays, utensils)
  • Textiles (unusable clothes, sheets, blankets, towels)
  • Usable clothing and shoes for donation
  • Mattresses & box springs

Mountain View residents may call Recology make an appointment to drop off additional items:

  • Appliances (no full size refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners)
  • Furniture (couches, tables, dressers, etc)
  • Clean wood & lumber (not painted or treated)

The Buy-Back Center is open to the public, and buys materials marked with the following:

Electronic Waste & Universal Waste Drop Off

  • Electronic and universal waste, such as consumer batteries, cell phones, and TVs are prohibited from the trash and recycling carts because they contain poisonous heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium that can pollute groundwater and pose harmful effects to public health. Mountain View residents may drop off all e-waste items at no charge.
