Derek Ruckman
Vice President & Group Manager – Pacific Northwest

Derek Ruckman joined Recology in 2015.  Derek previously served in various capacities for Republic Services and the Cintas Corporation.  He was born and raised in Tucson, AZ where he attended and graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Business Management.

Derek is the Vice President and Group Manager for Recology’s Pacific Northwest Group where he oversees facilities in Seattle, Portland, McMinnville, Astoria/Warrenton, Ashland and North/Mid Willamette Valley.


Steve Brum
Group Controller, Pacific Northwest Region

As Group Controller for the Pacific Northwest Region, Steve oversees the financial reporting, regulatory compliance, audit, and internal controls for the company, and manages the finance group including billing, accounts payable, and business development.

Steve has 14 years of experience in the Recycling and Waste industry performing a multitude of financial, business development, and municipal relationship roles.  Prior to joining Recology in Seattle, Steve worked in both the San Francisco and Portland Metropolitan Areas.  He is a graduate of San Jose State University.


Kevin Kelly
General Manager

Kevin Kelly joined Recology CleanScapes in 2012, bringing with him a unique background of political and policy experience from the federal, state and local levels of government.  As General Manger of Recology CleanScapes, Mr. Kelly oversees over 300 employees responsible for the garbage, recycling and organics collection for 100,000 residential customers and 10,000 commercial customers.  Recology CleanScapes also processes approximately 100,000 tons of commingled recyclable material annually and operates four retail stores.

Kevin graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in political science.  He earned his Executive MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.  Kevin actively participates in the community including serving on the Washington State Recycling Association Board of Directors, as Vice Chair of the King County Solid Waste Advisory Committee and on the Board of Washington Wild.  Kevin and his family live in Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood.


Quinn Apuzzo
Waste Zero Manager

Quinn Apuzzo joined Recology CleanScapes in 2009 and currently serves as the company’s Waste Zero Manager.  In this capacity, she and her team work collaboratively with municipal partners, businesses and community stakeholders to ensure contract compliance and deliver innovative public outreach and engagement programs in support of regional sustainability goals.

Quinn is an active member of the Washington State Recycling Association and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the City of Seattle’s Solid Waste Advisory Board.  She is a graduate of Hobart & William Smith Colleges and holds a degree in Public Policy.  Quinn and her husband live in Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood.


Kyle Kramer
Customer Service Manager

Kyle Kramer joined Recology CleanScapes in 2011.  His role as Customer Service Manager entails daily oversight of the Call Center and Data Quality activities, as well as Recology’s three retail store locations in Bothell, Burien and Issaquah.   Kyle has been an integral part of the Customer Service team throughout the past six years.

Kyle graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Communications and currently lives in the West Seattle neighborhood with his family.

Todd Burnstein
Account Manager

Todd Burnstein joined Recology CleanScapes as an Account Manager in 2013. Todd’s 25 years of sales and procurement experience has helped Recology CleanScapes excel in the private sector of recycling. His sourcing knowledge has helped in the development of new markets in the recycling trade. This knowledge will be beneficial in the marketing of recyclable material for the Recology CleanScapes MRF operations. Prior to joining Recology CleanScapes, Todd worked for over a decade at RockTenn Recycling as a Western Region Procurement and Sales Manager.

Mr. Burnstein graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Interpersonal Business Communication.


Larry Brewer
Operations Manager – MRF

Larry Brewer has worked at Recology CleanScapes since 2014.  He began as an Operations Supervisor, overseeing employee routing, coordinating event cleanups, managing staff, and implementing processing improvements for the CleanScapes Delivery and StreetScapes departments.

Larry became the Operations Manager for the Recology CleanScapes MRF in Seattle in 2015.  In this role, Larry is responsible for operations and staffing at the facility, ensuring the facility maintains its 98% average “up time.”  Prior to joining Recology CleanScapes, Larry was General Manager at Independent Metals recycling company and held various production and plant management positions.
